Changelog
0.39.0 Multiple starts, applications and areas
July 3, 2026
This is an older version. It is no longer maintained; the current version 1.147.0 is recommended.
The program can be started more than once. Each start is a working context of its own, which can be bound to a folder.
- Every further start creates an independent application with its own windows and its own window numbering. The window title shows in stages only as much as is needed to tell them apart.
- An area binds an application to a folder and its subfolders as its only workspace. The title then names the area instead of the number, and the same area never runs twice.
- The boundaries are hard: the open dialog, the list of recent files, save as, drag and drop and every internal route stay inside the area. Files opened from the file explorer always land in an application without an area.
- Links to targets outside the area are marked in every view with a warning underline; the click does not open and says why. Images embedded from outside still appear.
- A submenu of its own lists the areas opened recently, the latest first, with the full path as a tooltip.
- A new panel shows the area as a folder tree with the file list of the chosen folder. A click opens, a button creates a new file, and changes made outside appear by themselves.
- Session restoring covers the whole structure of applications, windows and panes, including the binding to an area.
- Changed: two menu entries are now named more plainly, “New file” and “Open file”, to tell them apart from “New application” and “Open area”.
- Fixed: quitting immediately after a fresh window was opened could hang.
- Fixed: on a second start, the new start pulled the unpacked files out from under the running instance, so that new windows could no longer load their language files. Only the portable program file was affected.
- Anyone not using the new possibilities notices no difference: one start, one application, no area.
