Changelog
0.99.0 Area search
July 29, 2026
This is an older version. It is no longer maintained; the current version 1.147.0 is recommended.
An open area can be searched as a whole: whatever sits in any of its files is one keystroke away, even when that file is not open.
- With an area open, Ctrl+F in one of its files covers every Markdown file of that area instead of just the open one. Matches appear grouped by file in the «Search results» panel, with a count per file; a click opens the file at the match, and F3 carries on across the file boundary. The scope in effect is shown at the left of the search bar.
- The file the search was opened in leads the list, and with its unsaved state: whatever is in the editor right now is found, even before it is saved. For all other files the saved state on disk applies. The order stays put while you search, so the counter runs through all matches of the area.
- Nothing familiar is lost. Matches in the open file are still highlighted in the text; the list comes in addition, it does not replace the highlighting. Search and replace stays bound to the single file: opening the replace row returns the search to the current document. And a file without an area behaves exactly as before.
- Large areas stay responsive. The area's texts are held while the search bar is open and cached between sessions; that cache sits with the program data rather than in the area itself, so it neither doubles your own files nor travels through folder synchronisation. For an exceptionally large area the files are re-read on every search instead, and the status line says so.
